Welcome to On The Premises magazine!
On The Premises is a Web-based fiction magazine published in both HTML and PDF formats. New issues are published every four months.
Stories published in On The Premises are winning entries in contests held every four months. Each contest challenges writers to produce a great story based on a broad premise supplied by our editors.
Here, you can find the November 2009 issue and our current contest.
If you wish to be notified when new contests begin, subscribe to our (free, short, monthly) newsletter.
***NEW SERVICE***: As always, we critique stories that make the final round, but do not get published, for free. However, if your story is not a finalist and you would like it critiqued anyway, we will critique it for $10. See here for more information.
Our Purpose
On The Premises aims to promote newer and/or relatively unknown writers who can write what we feel are creative, compelling stories told in effective, uncluttered, and evocative prose. Entrants pay no fees, and winners receive cash prizes in addition to exposure through publication.
First prize for short story contests in 2009 is US $140. For more details, see Prizes.
Our Sense of Fair Play
No one associated with producing On The Premises is allowed to enter the magazine’s contests.
